Here at New Square, we are committed to running an eco-friendly dental practice. We are always researching methods which will allow us to operate in a more sustainable way, whilst maintaining the highest standard of your oral care.
It has always been our aim to be a zero emissions practice. As of recently, we made the change to using biodegradable paper cups, swapping to environmentally friendly dental materials and have begun to plant trees to neutralise our carbon footprint.
An additional step forward, is for New Square to become a ‘paperless practice’. This decision has been a result of our dedication to saving as many trees where possible, whilst at the same time, protecting all patient data; ensuring that all our patient’s confidentiality is maintained to the highest standard.
In 2000, the practice made the switch to Digital radiography, rather than the conventional X-Rays. This change in technology can reduce the amount of toxic radiation sent into our atmosphere by 90%, helping us to achieve our aim in becoming a green practice, saving the environment. To help reduce the need for X-Rays we also recently acquired an iTero scanner. This equipment produces a 3D image of each patient’s mouth, which allows for earlier identification of potential pathological diseases which may present in a patient’s mouth.
Looking to the future, we believe it is of upmost importance to provide high quality care, through gentle dentistry, whilst being able to address and resolve the current environmental issues which may present themselves to us.
